Exempt Projects and PittPRO

In preparation for the planned integration with the University's PERISTM system, HRPO is clearing existing OSIRIS exempt studies that are not in the archived state.  Here are some important things that you should know:

  • If you have an active exemption that has been completed, use "study complete" and close it.
  • If you were given a "no human subject" or "not research" determination, use "study complete" and close it. You can continue to work on it and you will have access to the submission. If you do not take this action by May 1, 2019, our office will put it into the completed state for you.
  • If you are analyzing de-identified data only, use "study complete" and close the project. You can continue to work on the analysis of data and you will have access to the submission.
  • General modifications to exempt projects in OSIRIS are no longer being accepted.  If modifications are required, a new exemption must be submitted through PittPRO. Changes to study personnel only (excluding the PI) may still be done in OSIRIS.

All exemptions in the active state at the end of 2019 will need to transition to PittPRO. If you have any questions, contact askirb@pitt.edu
